if any one can help please post thanks john Seems to be a fairly common problem with recent Uniden handhelds. Their UK support is non-existent and they don't normally ship parts to private UK addresses (which is a shame as the actual replacement speakers are only a couple of dollars). Probably find mention of this on the 3500 yahoo group (bound to be one!) with sources for replacements in the UK. If not then you could use a similar sized 8ohm speaker (which all Farnell etc stock) and modify the wiring from the audio amp (or add 16ohm resistor in series...wouldn't need to be exact as a slight mismatch will not do the audio amp any harm)

I've got the same problem with my 3500xlt - Having read this thread yesterday, I contacted costal comuunications as mentioned and they reckon they may be able to sort it for around £26, so I've parcelled it up to send tomorrow. I'd rather not risk replacing the speaker myself, as I'm bound to make it not work at all!!!
