The Royal Air Force will mark the end of nearly 19 years of operations in Iraq when seven aircraft fly personnel back to the UK. Six Tornado jets and a VC10 transport aircraft will fly personnel from Iraq following the end of combat operations. The Flypast should take place at 11.30 today 3,6,09

Ascot 9611-9616 were forming up over Blakney point (?spelling) with 2 VC10s, Ascot 9201/9202, and Polecat, a pair of Hawks, at about 12.40 local. The GR4s came into the UK as 3 pairs, then formed up for the flypast. Apollogies for not doing "real-time" reporting, i was listening away from the computer. Dave

yes..Its true to say there is some wildly inaccurate reporting of the reliability of our jets!

yes..Its true to say there is some wildly inaccurate reporting of the reliability of our jets! Yes Gary....all six got airborne and returned. Well done to all the service personnel involved and a tribute to all our Armed Services.

Polecat 2 came into Coningsby today, landed then departed a couple of hours later

They did bolty, when Ascot 9615/9616 changed frequency the lead pilot did say that they were also Cobra 5 and 6. HTH Dave
