I'm sure there are one or two F1 fans on the forum. If not it'll just be me and Dunk!
With Button rising to glory this season and Hamilton not doing too well (to put it nicely!), it's certainly a change from the past two seasons!
Ferrari have now picked up their toys and have signed up for next season - I just hope McLaren step up the game and build a competitive car as we could do with a British 1, 2.

I think the 12th June is the next interesting date, when the FIA will announce who is in and who is out of next seasons competition.
Given that the FOTA 9 have entered but with conditions, they could if they wanted to exclude them, but would be left with 4 new teams and Williams, and Bernie and his F1 circus arent that daft.
This weekends Grand prix should prove interesting. Ferrari are usually strong in Turkey and I think Red Bull will be back on the pace again. Also expect toyota to pick up after the recent 2 drubbings around relatively slow tracks.
Still think Brawns will be at the head of the field, but KERS could well come into play this weekend for some of the other teams.

Im still a fan, its great to see the paddock turned on its head this year with Brawns performance. Ive heard Mclaren will be no where as certain key parts don't work with this chassis. The sooner they realise this season is over and start to concentrate on next year the better. As for next year, I honestly believe that every team will be on the grid in oz next year.

I know its still early in the season but I can't really see anyone catching Button. Kimi showed in Monaco that Ferrari are back somewhere near their pace last year but still behind the Brawns. I think its good to see a different pecking order this year. I am a fan of Lewis and so I'm not too happy seeing him near the back most of the time but at the same time I think that this season will teach him some valuable skills on how to race a car that isn't the fastest.

Its interesting to see the way things have changed in the paddock. i was at a do a couple of weeks ago, Hamilton waltzed in with 5 bodyguards and proceeded to do the rapper gangster thing, whilst Jenson turned up with a couple of mates and quietly got on with it, and was polite and normal, just as he used to be before the playboy thing took hold on him. I think it shows who is focused at the moment, and clearly Ross Brawn is the genius behind the success of Jenson, he seems to have got his self belief and focus back. I really can't see anyone touching Jenson this year he is so motivated and poor old Rubens is really struggling with Jensons pace. We always knew that the problem with the KERS systems would be the variability under braking due to the lack of time on the overrun. It's only a matter of time before we have the brake by wire systems coming out to counter the problems. Geoff

JB seems so relaxed and chilled out, nothing is getting to him - lets hope it continues as the season progresses.
Another new team has applied for one of the 3 new spots available for 2010
Austrian company Superfund, headed by ex F1 driver Alex Wurz have put their name forward to enter the fray next year.
Superfund now join Prodrive, Campos, Team US F1 and Lola trying to make it to the 2010 grid.

Ive seen one or two reports online that Brabham and March may have submitted entries for next years event.
Along with Lola, Superfund, Litespeed, USF1, campos and prodrive this potentially makes 8 new teams wanting to get involved.
With only 3 spaces available, theres going to be alot of disappointment.
However, is it possible that Bernie and the FIA could kick the FOTA 9 into touch and go with these new 8 teams and Williams?
Surely they wouldnt want to lose the big names, but with so much interest, Bernie could pull yet another surprise out of the bag!

i am a massive fan of F1 but it is really doing my head in that each year the rules change. this year they have a good set up on the rules i think and its good that the teams that havent done so well in the past are now on top but i think it will all change next year because once again the rules will change.

I never knew it was as many as 8 teams so had a look around to find out more info. Supposedly iSport International, Barwa Addax, Super Nova Racing, DAMS, Dallara and two other unnamed teams may be interested in lodging entries. So possibly 15 teams! But Renault may not enter the 2010 season due to falling car sales, needing to cut back on their money. Would this allow for an extra team to join? If Red Bull can build on their success so far this season I hope Vettel can do really well next year.

Nice to see so many F1 fans on FC.
F1 is going to be well over subscribed. I wouldnt put it past Bernie to go wih the new teams, he really is spiteful. However the pulling power of the big teams and amount of sponsoship they bring in should poo poo those thoughts.
Theres been talk of Renault or Toyota leaving the sport. Toyota came out yesterday saying as long as theres no budget constraint for 2010 they will commit to the sport until 2012. Nothing from Renault as yet.
I wish they would sort it out once and for all, it detracts from the great racing we have seen this year. The current rules are working, so leave them be, and let the fans enjoy the closest racing weve seen for years.

word on the streets ( well in the office) yesterday was that we may be seeing the return of F2 as a support series and feeder for F1, to replace F3000. just a rumour but lots of teams looking for a cheap high prestige series and would give the FIA a way out of the mess. Geoff

Seems Max Mosley hasnt missed the fact that F1 is oversubscribed for 2010, telling the FOTA 9 to go and start their own series if they dont want to play by his rules.
Gonna get messy very shortly, and its going to be interesting to see how many teams have the balls to stick it out, or jump from the FOTA ship. Bernie has long said it would be easy to break FOTA, and that teams will look after number one when push comes to shove.

No idea matey.
Great race from Jenson again.
I love the way Rubens retired with gearbox problems, just as he is about to be lapped by Jenson.....
Cracking race from the Redbulls, Jenson appears to be in a class of his own. Brilliant!

Was gutted when Vettel messed up and couldn't pass Button before his second stop. Still a good race for Red Bull though. Although I'm happy for Jenson that he's leading the world championship, dare I say it, I'm starting to get a little bored of his dominance, can we have Vettel win the next few races to make things even more interesting please!

F1 gear is always overpriced Dunk. Baffles me? When not make it more affordable and then sell more, making a profit that way? That Brawn site is currently down though fellas, all I'm getting is - xmicrosite error... I'll try later.
