Does anyone know if the VH-60N of US Marine Corps HMX-1 carry codes in addition to their serial (tail) numbers?
I took the following photo while on a trip to Washington DC last year and what looks like the number 7 is just behind & below the cockpit door.

I've never know the HMX-1 VH-60N's to carry a serial & for this particular one the number 7 is definetley nothing to do with the Reg of the aircraft. VH-60N 163267 crashed a long time ago & the reg hasn't been used since.
Still I wonder what it means? Its clearly the No.7
