The Edinburgh Apache was callsign AAC782 and was in the airport computer as being ZJ173, however, someone in Dunfermline reported it as ZJ170. Unless there are 2! If I hear of a mark one eyeball reading, I'll post it.

Hi Mike, can confirm that one of the serials was 189 but the others were impossible to confirm, im 50% sure another was ZJ219 but thats it. Considering I used to live in Yeovil when they were built and now live near Wattisham I have a pathetic amount of confirmed Apaches! Saying that though, one of the few I have is ZJ189 Wink Wink

I see that even the local news spotted the Apaches over Inverness on Wednesday - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/highlands_and_islands/8059799.stm

They were VERY active on the Tain Range - very impressive. I had 4 Apaches logged on my Radarbox below 200ft, so active on the Tain Range yesterday (Thursday). They all did several sorties into the range on different callsigns.

ModeS / Reg / Callsigns
43C252 ZJ189 PANTHER2, CARNAGE2, P83
43C263 ZJ206 PANTHE81, CARNAGE2
43C270 ZJ219 CARNAGE1, P84
43C273 ZJ222 PANTHER1, PANTHER2, PANTHE82, CARNAGE1

Thanks for that but we now have 5 numbers for 4 aircraft! Mad I think as I confirmed 189 and MAcc confirmed 173, plus 219 looks very likely as another, we have have a dodgy sbs box in one of the Apaches! Any updates?

Depends how the registrations were "confirmed". Yes, we may have the ModeS / Registration tie-up wrong, although I've checked several sources to check the registrations. We can be sure that the 4 ModeS hex code listed were active on the Tain Range. But we need visual confirmation to be 100% sure about the registrations. Was anyone spotting at the range yesterday?

Hopefully they'll be active on the range today, and I'll get my bins out.

Okay, 2 Apaches just entered the range, but I can't confirm the registrations from The Port. Need someone on the range to confirm. I've got 43C20C (unknown) and 43C273 (ZJ222) operating as PANTHER1 and PANTHER3, currently at 120ft. Both squawking 3732, and on 339.80. So, 5 different ModeS hexcodes have now been in use, so maybe 5 aircraft.

43C252 (ZJ189) has now joined them as PANTHER2, and we can hear the gunfire.

I see, this is my error based on assumption ( dont assume anything!!! Razz ) as I saw 4 arrive Monday with Puma XW223 I assumed there was only 4 detached, my mistake, wish I knew what those 4 were though!
