Any Canon lens with an EF mount will fit a Canon EOS DSLR.
Canon EF-S lenses will not fit Canon film SLR cameras, or some of the full frame DSLRs (like the EOS 5D), but will fit the rest of the DSLR Range (450D, 40D, 50D etc)

Hope this helps

Ben

The Canon lenses off of old film SLRs also have about 1.5 times the magnification , so if , for example , you have a 100mm lens it becomes a 150mm on a digital (I was told this by an expert , so if it is wrong sue him not me !!)

It's not the lens that has the multiplication factor, it's the camera body.
My old 10D had a crop factor of 1.6x so a standard 50mm lens would be an 80mm. 50x1.6

CAVEAT - Although older AF lenses will fit new camera, they may not necessarily function properly, especially with new bodies.

To expand on this, the problem is with the micro-chips built into the lenses which don't fully communicate with the computer in the camera body, this is more likely to happen with independent lenses than with OEM lenses so try before you buy. From personal experience I and my bro-in-law have had problems with Sigma lenses which won't function properly with our EOS 40D bodies. However I have a couple of pre-digital Canon AF lenses which appear to work fine including an EF 50-200L from around 1990.
