Saw a VC-10 on the approach earlier this afternoon, no more information than that though.
Just had a Royal Navy Jetstream overhead going into Waddo, callsign sounded like VYT06?

VYT06 is a Valley Hawk callsign.

Of course, wondered why it didn't make sense when I heard it! Maybe it was NVY06. Who knows, proably still not right, those guys speak way too fast sometimes Laughing

Did he have an oxygen-mask on when he spoke ?
Hawk pilots do,Jetstream pilots don't ?

If it was a Valley Hawk he would have come on frequency as "Victor Yankee Tango Zero Six" after that he would call himself "Victor Zero Six"

No he didn't have an oxygen mask. It was definitely a Jetstream, I saw it first and then turned the scanner on to catch it on Waddo tower. Never knew that about the callsigns either, learn something new every day :) I just struggle to identify the callsigns sometimes, it's quite annoying!

It takes YEARS to master, believe me !
I got my 1st VHF radio in 1967 (couldn't buy UHF in those days) and have been monitoring since, during my spare-time(VHF,UHF and HF).
The military(UHF)seem to come-up with something new every day.
Stick at it,it gets easier every day.

VC-10 K3 ZA150 (J) departed at 1720. The Jetstream was still parked on Delta at 1730.
