Just wondered what settings people on here use.
I normaly set it to auto,but thinking of trying program,
or aperture setting.By the way,i use a D50 with the kit
lens.

Usually aperture priority around f8 and ISO 100. Boosting the ISO for poor weather if necessary to keep a usable shutter speed - doesn't need to be that high for statics.

I use shutter priority (S on your Nikon - I use a D60). Usually around 200/400 ISO depending on the light and about 1/250 or 1/320 for prop aircraft and around 1/800 or 1/1000 for jets.

Give it a try, you'll notice a difference!

I think Sooty was asking about static aircraft, but yeah I would agree with what you say about shutter speeds for flyers. Makes it more fun to bump the shutter speed down to 1/125ish for the props though!
