Went out with my finepix S100 the other day and tried to capture some prop blur on the Herc's at the 'hall but with no success. Any idea what settings i should use to be able to do this? Rob.

Taxi or flying shots.
Flying set a shutter speed of around 320th to 250th taxi shots 200th to 160th if you can hand hold your gear well. you can go lower but practice with those for a while .

If you've got a really steady hand, you can go as low as 1/60th, but that does take practice. Usually I use around 1/125th when going for prop blur, although you may not get the full arc, as it were.

The pics are easy mate.
You'll need to host them somewhere on-line, like Photobucket. Then find the location direct to that pic (something like this) - https://2img.net/h/i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd258/wcfcfan/DamIt.jpg, and put after the location in your FC post. There is an option in photobucket to copy the img code direct - if you get stuck, you're welcome to PM me or one of the other mods for advice

If you are a newbie, use S mode. Shooting moving aircraft in M can be tough, as the light may change as you pan the sky. With the camera set at, say 1/250th in S, the aperture will adjust wider or narrower to cope with the changing lighting and keep the exposure roughly right.
In M you will constantly have to alter the shutter speed or the aperture to keep the correct exposure level.
Say you are shooting an aircraft coming right over your head. You start with your back to the sun and set the shutter speed and aperture (in M mode) to cope correctly with this lighting.
As the aircraft comes over your head, if you were to turn right around and look directly at the sun to catch the aircraft heading away from you, clearly there will be a lot more light shining directly at the camera.
If you were in M, you would have to quickly close the aperture or quicken the shutter speed in order to avoid the sun's light washing the shot out, leaving it over-exposed.
With the camera in S, when you turn the camera will automatically keep the shutter speed the same, but will close the aperture in order to avoid letting too much light hit the sensor.
I hope that makes sense!
