How to post a photograph at Fighter Control - AMENDED

This is the most common method used for posting a picture at Fighter Control.

1 - Image size for posting on this forum is to be 800 pixels wide maximum however height limit is not restricted (although be sensible).
Fighter Control have a code in place which will resize anyones photos being posted over the 800 pixels wide limit from now on. Those posting oversize images which will be automatically resized will have their photos show below the quality they originally posted them at. The resizing code may cause photos to display out of sync. So, please make sure you resize your images to 800 wide (800 wide x 600 high is the standard size) using freely available software online or your photo editing suite before posting. Relying on Photobucket or any other image host to do the resizing for you does not always work
There are many resizing tools available on the internet for free. I recommend Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ as it is easy to use and it has some great extra features.

2 - Register with an image hosting site. The most common site used is photobucket http://photobucket.com/ as it is free to use.

3 - When you have registered with photobucket, you will have your own album. In your album you will see an option to BROWSE your computer for the image or images you wish to upload to photobucket. When you have located the image, click UPLOAD. Your image or images will now appear in your photobucket album.

4 - Under the image in your photobucket album, you have four options. You need to click on the fourth option titled IMG CODE. When you click on this link, the link will go blue and the word COPIED will appear.

5 - Open a NEW TOPIC in the photo album at Fighter Control. Give the new topic a name. (example: Coningsby 17th March 2008). Then in the large blue area underneath, write a few words about your pictures that you are showing. Under your writing press CTRL V on your computer keyboard. This will copy the link from your photobucket image into the space. If you want to put more than one image in your post, just click on the IMG CODE of every picture you wish to add. Please make sure when adding multiple images that you copy the photobucket links underneath each other in your post and not side by side.

6 - Click the PREVIEW button at the bottom of the page. You can now review your post to check that your images have appeared and all your information is correct. At this point, your post will not be seen in the photo album. If you make an amendment to your post, click PREVIEW again to check that your amendment has been successful.

7 - Click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page. Your post should now appear in the Photo Album.

NOTE: If you delete or move your images in your photobucket account, they will no longer be seen at Fighter Control, as this breaks the links between the two sites.

In addition the above guys, the forum has been looking a little untidy as of late.

From now on, when starting a new Recent Photo's thread, please title it as follows -

LOCATION - DATE (xx/xx/xx) - ANY OTHER COMMENTS

For example, I someone went to Brize on Saturday, the thread should be titled

RAF Brize Norton - 21/2/09 - Plenty of action

For those, who post from abroad, and we do love seeing those pics, please post in the following fashion -

AFB Barksdale, Louisiana, USA
or
Vliehors Range, Netherlands

If you post pics from a base, please put the relevant pre-fix (RAF, AFB etc). If you post from other locations, ranges etc, please state 'Holbeach Range'

Hopefully, this will tidy it up a bit, and make it a bit easier to navigate through.

I will edit any titles for the next few days, and send an explanatory PM to the poster, until people get the hang of it
