Okay for all those fortunate to own a Digital Slr I have a question....

Which one have you got and if you dont mind how much was it?

Reason is I'm fed up of my pics looking second best to these DSLR piccies and I know I want one.

Is it possible to obtain a decent one for around £300 (second hand is acceptable).

Got a Finepix S6500fd but the lens isn't long enough.

Cheers all

Try your local jessops (I know they are expensive) or LCE and try a Cannon 400d body (If you already have a canon SLR all the better as your standard film camera lens will fit on a digital and give about a 1+ 1/2 . If you like what you see try ebay for a second hand one (Body only if neccessary as I said standard film canon lenss are interchangeable)

For that sort of money (£300) you should be able to pick up a secondhand Canon 400D or maybe a 450D, both are very good starter D-SLR's

Have a look at Canon Outlet thats Canon's own secondhand / refurbished camera site. Usually has a good supply of those two on it with and without standard lenes. If you are only going to use it for aircraft then it might be worth just getting the body and then something like a 80-300mm seperate (also on that site)

Have you looked at the items for sale in the " Warplane " site forum - a 350 D + bits for £200 - a 40D for £400

A couple of places to keep an eye on for second hand goods:

www.t4cameras.co.uk
www.mpbphotographic.co.uk
www.lcegroup.co.uk
www.mifsuds.co.uk
www.acecameras.co.uk

Ive got a 400d and it has produced fantastic results in the past. When it doesnt its normally user error Laughing

As a good starter setup look for either a canon 350d or 400d camera and a canon 70-300mm (non IS) lens.

as mentioned a Sony A200 is ~£245 with the kit 18-70mm & is imo very hard to beat for vfm. With any  DSLR you are probably going to want to add a telephoto lens of some description & that  will add more cost.
