Hi I am a relative newbie to aircraft photography and have been twice to Coningsby. On both ocassions I went to the New York road end of the runway and parked in the little mud and grass layby. Walking the wooden fenceline about 50 yds (along the mainroad) offers excellent approach shots (providing the landings are that end), also breaking into circuit. I use a 70-200mm lens and the Typhoons fill the frame. The landings are unobstructed due to the traffic control measures. It works for me. Whatever you do, or where you go, have a good day. Paul

If you go to this spot though please take extreme care as divers treat this stretch of road like Le Mans and even overtake between the lights :x

Paul We parked here a while ago and watched one of the BBMF Spitfires come in right over our heads - it was fantastic.

yes please dont stand in the road - 3 times this week I've come across spotters doing so... its a national speed limit section so vehicles are doing a perfectly legal and appropriate 60mph...
