Hi Craig, Well there is a few places which are great veiwing area's. The link shows the map of the base and veiwing points. http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/spotting/cottesmore.html The best place to park your car and veiw is POINT A the main veiwing area. But if the wind is blowing in the right direction Point D is great, the down side is if the RAF Police are in a bad mood as its right at the end of the runway. But it is in a feild with a public footbath so if you do park your car on the verge or something near by its a great place even away from the perimiter fence. But the website i have given you the link for is the best for details where to go. Thanks, Cottesmore09

For the Harrier 40th anniversary celebrations from the 23rd July-24 July there is alot of flying activity between both bases.
On Thursday 24th July there is a small display at RAF Wittering (i think its a Harrier solo) between 17:45 and 18:15.
Then 24th July the big day at RAF Cottesmore with a good line up of aircraft. As it is the 40th Anniversary of the Harrier a flypast of Harrier squadrons should take place. flying is between 10:45 and 16:15
Gnat Duo from North Weald Team Guinot Typhoon display BBMF King Air Hawk display Blades Yaks Sea Hawk Harrier display Vulcan display Black Cats (it looks like the Red Arrows flypast has been cancelled!! but may take place?)
* All times are acording to NATS.
Thanks, Cottesmore09

As far as I can recall, the fence is the same all the way round the base.

These are GMT times you need to add 1 hr for BST so flying is 10:45 to 16:15 local

much appreciated The fence is about three and a half feet high, so no stepladders required.

Looks like the wind will from the SW. So landing on 22. Might go across there for a bit myself.
