Last week I attended a lecture by a Senior Flight Engineer on the Jaguar Project. I was able

to give him the details about Fighter Control and our Warton Site. I have received feedback

from him this evening, and he particularly wants to thank Terry for the excellent nostalgic

photographs of Warton in bygone years he noted that there were not many Jaguars featuring

and could that be rectified if possible. Thanks again Terry. (long may it rain in Lincolnshire

other than when there is an Airshow or exercise or display practice etc etc) Frank

Engineer mentioned above is going to come to our Society and give us a lecture on

the Flight Development of the Jaguar from Inception through to RAF Service.

i wonder if some of the older members could help with a quick question
i went to a warton families day in the 70`s just cant remember the date lol it was that long ago
the tornado was called the mrca . i do remember they were using a lightning and buccaneer at the time as well
put it this way the lightning taking off left a lasting impression Thumbs Up

so if you have any photo`s of the event or even
the year it would be appreciated

I hink for a start you could contact Public Relations at Warton and if not try The BAE Heritage Group ask to speak to either Robert (Bob)
Fairclough or Robert Jones you will find most of the Heritage group helpful. I can recall one
open day might have even been in the 60s when Roly Beaumont displayed a Lightning and kept in within the confines R 08/26 R 14/32 and down Charlie Taxiway he never came out of
reheat and seemed to perform a complete square in the sky. I cannot remember if it was the
same open day but I also remember Johnny Squier flying a Canberra over Salmesbury at 50K
feet and descending to low level over Warton in a steepdive he was only in view for a few seconds and had climbed back to height before most of the crowd realised what had happended they only hear the avons on full song.
