This message has just been posted on Touchdown and I thought it would be worth sharing.
Due to prolonged wet weather we have had and recently and the snow we have taken the unusual step to close the site temporarily. The reason is that the ground around the viewing area is water logged and is damaged due to the ground been cut up by vehicle traffic. The grassed area as you come off is a mud bath and anyone taking a vehicle up there would at the present get stuck. The track is poor condition as well and damaged in certain areas. We propose to repair the track as soon as reasonable possible we have hard core on site to do that. Given the chance of some dry weather the field should dry out, the land round here drains fairly well, but the frost is not helping matters at the moment. We thank you for your cooperation, and God willing we will be re-open soon.
Regards John Tom / Jane Tuffs thanks to Dinger for finding this

Just a quick update from Touchdown. If anyone wishes to use the site please walk on and walk up to the veiwing area I will leave one Toilet open, please also if you use the site I would appreciate you dropping a pound in the box, this helps to cover our costs. We will be laying hard core on the track this week weather pemiting. The feild is still wet around the viewing area, and its a case of see how we go on as the week goes by. If by the weekend its still not fit, we propose to open the gates so people can park around the shower block on the hard standing and walk up to the viewing area. Thanks for your cooperation.
John T Hope this is of use. Dinger

A further update from John, posted on Touchdown. The site will be open on a LIMIT basis from 0800 Hrs Thur Feb 12 2009. You will not be able to take your car up to the viewing area at this stage. The field is to wet for cars to use. Park your car in a ordely manner round the green barn and shower block on the hard standing, do not block the entrance to the site or any person in. Please do not drive on the grass infront of the toilet / shower block.
The situation will be reviewed daily and hopefully we can get back to full ops.
Regards
John
Tom / Jane Tuffs I will post further updates as and when. Dinger.

This has just been posted on Touchdown, Hello to everyone, Please note from tomorrow you will be able to access the viewing area by car, please remember the site SPEED LIMIT IS 5 MPH. I would also kindly ask that you don't use your car to travel from the viewing area to the toilet block and back to the viewing area unless absolutely necessary. The area as you go of the track is still delicate. Thanks for your cooperation and happy viewing.
Regards John@runway11 www.thenookcampsite.co.uk Hope this is of use. Dinger.
