I used to shoot at a lower pixel rate so I could cram as many images on as possible because I am trigger happy. However when it came to process them or crop them, they looked really awful as they would become too pixelated.
If you have a look at your B1-B that you cropped, you will see that it is pixelated. This year I am going to be shooting in RAW, as last year I shot using hi res jpeg.

Shoot at the highest number of pixels your camera can handle but when displaying on the web the standard is 72DPI. The high number of pixels is very useful if printing. Cheers, Roger

One thing though to remember the higher pixel rating you place the more ink your printer will use. Jim.

thanx for pointing that out admin but i did shoot in both raw and jpeg with the b1 and edited the raw image.
but i was only using a 200mm lens which wasnt getting what i wanted at the time although i was happy with it and unhappy with it at the same time thats why i did the edited version. look at both the pics agian you'll see that i cropped to make the b1 bigger as it look piddly and not as menacing as it should look

Just a suggestion, I have my EOS 40D set to RAW and hi-res JPEG, that way you can have your cake and eat it. With the price of memory cards these days, filling a card is not really a worry.

According to the figures, the 40D will do 17 Raw in a burst, wheras with JPEG it is up to 75 images, and I have found I have had to alter my technique slightly when I have had a go with RAW, i.e. learning to take my finger off the shutter more often.
