Just saw a thread in the Recent Pics forum, which said it was from EGNO, of which I had to google. I have no idea on this type of name for bases, is it an idea to have each of these callsign names (no idea what they are called, please forgive my ignorance) alongside the name for each airfiled in the airfields section e.g. RAF Warton (EGNO)?

Better still....why don't people just say where they mean, instead of using the codes?? Not everyone knows them, and I for one can't be bothered to learn them. Dave.

Alternatively, a full listing can be found here - http://fightercontrol.forumotion.com/aviation-resource-and-jargon-centre-arjc-f14/military-airfield-eg-codes-t36.htm

Not everyone knows them, and I for one can't be bothered to learn them. Dave. Totally agree with you,it only takes about 2 seconds longer to type the airfield name,I've noticed that someone is using codes for German/USAF mil airfields as well ,as a header for their posts. Not funny, why should we have to use a reference site to find-out what airfield the poster is talking about ? Mike :bounce:

Not everyone knows them, and I for one can't be bothered to learn them. Dave. Which is why I suggested they are put next to the names of the airfield, in the airfields section.

Thanks guys, for your concerns. The staff are considering a solution although, as ever, we can't please everyone. ;)

Then I will still have to cross reference them....or learn them...and I have very limited intelligence :D Dave.

Ladies and Gentlemen, an increasing number of posts recently have the airfield code written as a location for the information instead of the airfield name. This is a polite request to use a minimum of the airfield name to prevent confusion and to make posts easy to read for all.
Thanks for your understanding. ;)
