Sums up 2008 for me! A shame the 100 Sqn 90th celebration didn't coincide with the RAF's... RAF Leuchars 2008 Airshow

Have just rejoined and saw this competition. Nice pics so far so thought I would join in. The only place I found sun last year was abroad where I took this picture of the PDF crossover at Pratica di Mare in Italy. Cheers Rod :)

My submission for this year, it was a hard choice between this and my B2 night shot. But I decided this one.

For my entry I had to pick one from Axalp in Switzerland, the best photographic outing I had this year so only fitting I suppose.
F-18C firing flares on a high speed pass......

I've gone for a memorable moment from last year and for me it was this guy with his high speed pass during the airshow at Landivisiau.

Hard to choose, but my pic from 2008 is this Greek F-4E Phantom, 01504, "HAF339", almost ready for departure runway 09 at Soesterberg.

Major 'Max' Moga's take off for his penultimate display of his stint as F22 display pilot at Aviation Nation in November. Being aware of the hills in the background at Nellis, I had been anticipating this shot prior to attending - I had just hoped for a little more vapour.....

This is the first pic I've posted, so just really looking for thoughts.

A very impressive 63 entries here, congratulations to all who entered - we saw some great shots for the 2008 competition. Voting was well spread and we had a tie for 3rd place - this was settled by the number of 'Firsts' in each moderator's top three.
First Place
Dunk's Gripen Beautiful lighting
Second Place
Pen Pusher's Golden Vulcan Again, lighting was spot on, one of the best Vulcan shots we have seen from last year
Third Place
Dave934's low-fly Spitfire What a buzz it must have been to see that come through! Low-fly photography takes a lot of devotion and the team recognised the effort that must have gone into this.
Well done to all who entered.
All the winning shots are now hosted on our photobucket (if any winner would prefer it not to be, please PM me)
February's specialist competition is now open, for non D-SLR entries as is the main competition
Steve
