This is an adaptor just wondering is it worth buying an adaptor or save my pennies for a real wide angle lens. Anyone who has used an adaptor can they please pass comments on whther they are a worthwhile purchase please.

I have the Canon 17-85 IS lens and a Canon 10-22 lens. Both are good lenses for a variety of wide angle shots.

Those are the filter type that only fit on the basic kit lens am i correct./
Have seen a few use them and seem to like them. they cost around £50 and just screw on to your 18-55 kit lens and the filter gives a view of around 12mm if i remember correctly.
So Yes for £50 they are worth a try and if they make your kit lens that bit wider than it cannot be a bad thing. A lot of people cannot justify spending £400 on a lens they may only use a few times a year so a cheap and cheerful alternative.

Seems you are thinking of the types that fit on a lot of the prosumer cameras.
But the new type out on the market that is just like a screw in filter like your UV filter and these open your kit lens from 18 mm to 12 . but this is the type i was thinking of for normal DSLR kit lens.

Seem plenty of the type i have described to take your DSLR 18-55 kit lens out to a wide angle effect they will fit Nikon Canon Pentax kits lens , worth a look or try if you want to try some wide angle pic taking on a budget. link here.http://www.cameraworld.co.uk/ViewProdDetails.asp?prod_code=PON08F000022&Prod_name=Digital%20King%20DSW%20Pro%200.7x%20Wide%20Angle%20Lens
