The local rag (The Northern Scot) has recently stated that Lossie is the station of choice for the JSF (Lightning II), thereby securing the future of the station as a front line, operational base. I've yet to read any official confirmation of this, though the piece in the local rag came about following a senior officer's visit to the station a couple of weeks ago, where he apparently stated the RAF's commitment to the station.
