What was going to be a quick visit to Draycote Water (my old local birding patch) on Sunday to photograph the long-staying Pectoral Sandpiper from America turned into a long hot day in the sun photographing some very obliging subjects... The juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper, choosing Warwickshire instead of America....
The Pec was accompanied by 2 amazingly confiding Dunlin, normally the presence of these wary waders would have meant watching from the distance these photos were taken from would be unimaginable...
Juvenile Bar-tailed Godwit, quite a good record inland and rather irregular at Draycote
Juvenile Ringed Plovers, as with Dunlin, these waders are normally incredibly wary but these seemed unconcerned by me hiding behind a large pile of rocks.
A juvenile Ruff, probably a male due to its large size. Photographed with the Godwit, Plovers and Ruff, the blue-green algae really is that colour, it's not my inability to get the white balance right
