A little piece of history, with RAF Aldergrove closing on 20 September 2009, after some 91 years of RAF presence here in Northern Ireland. The flypast at the final lowering of the ensign on RAF Aldergrove was carried out by three Harriers ZD347/14, ZG472/62, ZD431/43A. The flypast at the raising of the new ensign signifying Joint Helicopter Command Flying Station Aldergrove was performed by Puma ZJ954, Gazelle XZ334 and Islander ZG845.

Nice shots. Im disappointed to miss this but just back from holidays. Where abouts were the shots taken from? Very sad to see the RAF out of Aldergrove. Its the local base and was always somewhere I loved to go up to.

Hi Ringo from Kilead Road right under the flight path to R25. Not an ideal location but all that was available. It will be interesting to see what helicopters turn up, the odd Apache for instance would be nice!! John
