Hi im new to this forum and i live 5 mins form RAF Cottesmore. I like seeing the Harriers daily but really i like to see the odd visitor appear as its quite rear now since the Tornados left in 1999. Anyway hopefuly this new Topic will keep you all informed on all the goings on at RAF Cottesmore.
So fare we have had the Return of the Harriers on the 1/7/09 so flying acivity at Cottesmore has been high.
Today saw the King Air and Tucano (6/7/09).
But the big event at Cottesmore this year is on 24th July where the 40th anniversary of the Harrier celebrations take place aswell as there annual families day. Appearing at this years display is: Formation of 4 squadrons of harriers for 40th anniversary and special displays Hawk T1 Harrier x4 Blades Typhoon BBMF ??RNHF?? Jet Provost T3 King Air YAK52
possibilities Tornado F3 or GR4 flypast Vulcan display

I may pay a visit to Cottesmore next week again, i went a few weeks back but they were on 04 A harrier popped a nose wheel on landing so the other 7 jets diverted to Whittering I had one Harrier come to the end and taxi pased me, i got some nice shots of him with the Canopy open! Matt

13/07/09 There is a thread under RAF Cottesmore / RAF Wittering already about this but i will state it anyway. The Apache called in today which was a very nice suprise also alot of Harrier activity including 3 ship Harrier formation arrive before splitting and landing. Of coarse the Harriers came in time for the heavy downpour.

Thanks, Cottesmore09 Think this has been cleared up in another thread. They were nothing to do with QRA this deployment, and they weren't armed. They were temporarily detached as Coningsby had a no flying day on Wednesday 15th. They were 4x29 sqn jets (owned or 'loaned') so presumably there was a need for them to continue/complete some particular aspect of their training by a deadline. Have they rtb yet?
