hi gents was at leuchars on sat and had a torred time with my D50
actually same results at RIAT
the problem i have it seems when i put the D50 into P and put the ISO 200/400 and put the shutter speed below 1/200 and below the pictures i get are out of focus and i get which look like dust spots i was playing around with different settings ie trying differnt ISO settings and differnt modes ie A and M but i wasnt getting any good results it went from bad to worse
so i ended up just switching to auto which strangly the dust spots dissappeer could this be a lens problem or even worse a camera prob the same happened at RIAT

It sounds like you need to clean you sensor. The reason that you are seeing dust is that as you or the camera adjust the speed the lens aperture will adjust accordingly. The lower the shutter speed the more the aperture closes down. If you have dirt/dust on your sensor it will be more apparent up at the higher aperture settings.
See guide for checking for dust.

Why not try Shutter Priority mode with the ISO set at the level for the appropriate light?
Try using the following Shutter Speeds.
Helicopters: 1/200th Propellors: 1/320th Jets: 1/500th or above

what settings do you use for taking photos No probs. I use a D2x. Shutter Priority with ISO and White Balance set on auto. I generally use Matrix Metering.
