Went out to lunch today at my local, been going there for drinks and meals for the past 10 years. My sunday lunch came, and my beef was all fat veg cold, gravy cold, so rightfully i complained. Paying the bill at the end they knocked the charge off my meal, but the landlord who i thought was a "mate" threatened me and my family and barred us from the pub because i complained!!! i suffer from nervous anxiety and this made my condition worse, what has happened to the old saying "the customer is always right?" i will not miss the place and at the end of the day it is the owners loss not mine!!! i will be avoiding the Red Cow as long as that nutter is in charge!!.

How about going to the local paper they love stories like this. Trouble is nowadays pubs are run by muppets, the days of proper landlords are a thing of the past.

Thanks guys, was thinking of going to H&S tomorrow, yep they are run by muppets but the landlord is an ex serviceman and thought he was a mate!! i am seethingwith anger!!!, and at the moment the only place i could think of getting my anger across was on the forum. Thank you very much guys., glad to know theres people on my side, it's just ridicolous!!

when you say he threatened you and your family, in what way did he threaten you.

because you may not be aware but threatening someone in this country is still a criminal offence, even behaving in a threatening way is.

so if you feel you were threatened then report it and they will be investigated.

also is it one of those managed chains type pubs, as if it is a letter to head office would be a good idea.

We recently went for a meal and Figgy was served a frankly inedible steak! When we complained, the manager became defensive and accused us of lying about the claim stating she 'could not believe it was tough as it was cooked rare! She later told me that she was not accusing me of anything! I then proceeded to make as many very loud disapproving comments and to embarrass the staff as much as possible until we left! I then sent the owners a stinking email and was sent a voucher! I didn't feel the voucher was enough and am currently awaiting further freebies! You make sure to make a noise about this! The power if the word is mightier than the Brimstone as they say! Customer facing businesses cannot afford to have bad publicity, especially if people know that it may have affected your health! Go for it! Xx

Beefsteak my landlord is 6ft and an ex para, not a wise man to trouble as he told me in his threat! lol im 5ft7 and not very big i think he would have wone a punch out lol. Obviously their microwave oven is knackered,that's what virtually every pub/hotel etc,etc depends on these days,chuffin' microwave ovens !

Prior to microwaves the menus of every pub/hotel etc. was MUCH smaller,that is because all the food was freshly-cooked,nowadays the menus are huge because most things are just re-heated.

My wife's a cook in the local Community Centre and EVERY meal that she serves has to have a digital temperature-probe put into it and that has to be recorded in a log-book,even a bacon-roll !

I've had 10 years experience at Management level of Flight-Catering and Terminal catering at Edinburgh and various other airports around the UK but things have changed since then ! I used to think the customer was always wrong,but in your case Blackcat,you are RIGHT-report the idiot and get rid,then go down to the local(when he's gone) and enjoy yourselves-you deserve it mate. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

You are doing exactly the right thing, let other people know of your experience, pubs and restruants get an awfull lot of business through word of mouth.

It is possible that the pub is brewery (or other chain) owned, so I would write to threm also.

I love my Ale, but it took me quite a while to get the courage to speak up if I get a bad one.

95% of the time a Landlord will exchange a beer no questions asked.
In fact any reasonable landlord would thank you for pointing it out to them.
The other 5% will argue the point and think I must be wrong.
It is these 5% that will never see the colour of my money again.
