It came in the other day as Vortex 444 as far as I know. Not sure where its from but I am guessing they are from Benson or Odiham. Probably in to ferry some of Aldergroves equipment away now that the closure is happening very soon.

Sure is. Think it is being called Joint Helicopter Command Aldergrove now or something like that. There will probably be some occasional activity off and on.

Serial of that chinook was ZA680 apparently. Probably 18 or 27 sqn from Odiham.

Does anyone know what helicopters will still be based at Aldergrove?

I hope we see some jets over the coming years if the RAF stick to their plan and begin some occasional low flying training over NI.

Vortex003,

You never know about the Apaches. Why wouldn't they visit. I'd love to see them, like everyone else here lol.

Lets keep our fingers crossed chinook 698488
