A small and late selection of shots from around Lossie, both the base and the town. In most cases I was using my visits to practice slow shutter speeds. So far the slowest successful shots have been at 1/60, though the hit rate is not always high, particularly if the light is poor! Anything slower has proven useless, with either the front or rear fuselage only being sharp - because AF can't keep up with the speed of the aircraft at such a slow setting. As has been the case for much of the time this summer, the weather has not been kind to photographers in this part of the world, so, if nothing else, the poor light made for challenging conditions!
Shot from the outer harbour wall;
Shot at 1/80;
This was shot at 1/60;
Shot at 1/160;
Also at 1/60;
And again at 1/60;
Thanks for looking!

Nice set of shots, looks like you made the most of the condition's. Nice use of slower shutter speed, the good thing about digital is you can afford a high delete rate to get the shot you are looking for cheers, John

Michael. They look excellent on my monitor! - really good panning and stability skills I'm afraid I don't live close enough to a fast jet base all the time to attempt slow-shutter speeds and tend to make every visit count by attempting to hit as fast a speed as possible; - but seeing these I'm going to give it a go... Well done again Paul

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. And Paul (reheat module): give it a go. I approached it by starting at 1/200 and dropping down from there. Obviously the better the light the easier it is for AF to track and retain focus, assuming you've locked-on in the first instance as the aircraft approaches (a failure to do so having wrecked some of my shots when shooting low level, even at higher shutter speeds!).
