Up on SBS is fake USN hex code 5AB55E decending from 23k to 18,500ft using callsign CNV3354 He hasn't gone into Lyneham or Brize & from my position at Gatwick it looks like its inbound to the Hall now. Could be the C-40 that was due today?

The first number in a CONVOY callsign normally indicates the a/c type. 3 being C130, 4 C40 etc. So if you're looking out for a C40, 4 is what the c/s will start in. Stig.

Prefix 6 may refer to a mission, to which no specific a/c type was assigned. I did use the word "normally" in my reply. There's no such thing as a 100% rule. It's still useful to know. Try applying logic to REACH codes! Cheers, Stig.

Been working on Reach for months i looked at it for ages and thought id sussed it, and have since been told numerous times as a general rule that the 3 digit reach callsigns are mission callsigns and those that are four digit i.e those that you can tie up to a serial are positional flights
