A fifth San Antonio-class landing platform dock (LPD) ship was delivered to the US Navy (USN) on 21 August in a ceremony at Northrop Grumman's Avondale shipyard in New Orleans.
The 25,885-ton New York (LPD 21) is scheduled to commission on 7 November, having completed acceptance trials on 24 July under the scrutiny of the navy's Board of Inspection and Survey.
New York 's bow-stem was constructed using 7.5 tons of steel salvaged from the remains of New York City's World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the '9/11' attacks on the United States.

A nice tribute to the fallen, Janes article here.
