Im going to maplins in a bit to make one of the DIY dipole antennas in the sticky section. I have looked at maplins and they list a 50 and a 75 BNC connecter. does it matter which one i uses with a hand held scanner?

Hi Chrissy.

You need the 50 ohm one.. the 75 is a different
size and won't fit.

Yes, 50Ohm is better (though the mismatch isn't too much of a problem as the dipole will alrady be mismatched.

75Ohm will do fine if that is all that is available on the day. It is NOT a different size
