Noted performing ground runs on Monday was the long term sick ZH106. Could this be an indication that a return to flight is due in the near future?

Sounds possible. Or could simply have been an anti-det run. (anti-deterioration) Cheers

When we had a base tour June 2008. We had the chance to go in ZH106 and at that stage they said it could still out of action for another year or so. So hopefully wont be long before she rejoins the fleet Clap

Why is ZH106 out off action ? Is it being upgraded, just stored or had a accident ?

Suffered damage during storms in January 2007. A pic and some info can be found on the Target lock website

Maybe because it's due to go to repaint soon at Manchester (see other thread)

ZH101 departed for repaint this morning. As for 106, due to the length of time it has sat on the ground and after the extent of the repairs which have been carried out, I would imagine a series of air tests would be required before the aircraft is released for everyday use.

Yes I also Had a visit the the sqdn back in 2007 the a/c was totally gutted everything removed from inside plus the work that had to be done to the damaged area....a mommoth task ahead

As there where no records from the 1950s of how to repair a damaged 707/135 onwards Whistle waddingtons had to take photographs at every stage of the repair been done to ZH106.

From what I saw on that day it was no easy task to do what they where doing to the a/c so thats why its taken so long to get this far with it well done to the guys that have put her back together Thumbs Up Clap Clap
