Evening All, It is with disbelief that yet again person(s) unknown feel that they need to cut the fence around Coningsby so they can get their lenses through to get better photographs. Two days ago I did a quick repair along from the crash gate down REEDHAM LANE and this afternoon whilst driving my Boss around the Unit again person(s) unknown hadremoved the repair and made another hole...........My question is WHY? My Boss was not impressed and neither was I, I thought we had soved this problem but it seems I have been proven wrong. Folks I am not happy with all the work i do for Spotterwatch and the enthusiast around Coningsby and other Units to get it all blown back in my face, it makes me wonder why i do it sometimes. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that supports the scheme and recently there has been an influx of people joining. I have a pile of applications on my desk which i will get to. For some good news, I have been promoted and posted to Cranwell, with a good friend and i are about to commence building a website for Spotterwatch and I hope that all the Units involved so far to pull together, i will be contacting the POC at each Unit shortly and hopefully we will be getting together to talk things over. Another piece of news which is in its infancy, is that myself and the FC admin have been approached by service personnel at RAF Lakenheath and they are looking to start a similar scheme there. As I said it is in its infancy but from the outstart of the scheme it was one of my ambitions to get the scheme onto the USAFE Units. Sorry for the long thread but thought things had to be said. Regards

Congrats on your promotion! Why is it always an idiotic minority that spoil it for everyone?

Hi all, Yes you do get loads of fools that will always mess with fences and the like, and you will never stop this.I think that you find it happens more at this time of year when the kids are off school, and you get the holiday crowds turn up.You always see them with there pack ups or fish and chips, they no nothing about planes. Then there rubbish gets blown about,or the kids get fed up and start messing around. But all in all there is not to much trouble when you think how many turn up over the year, just the odd hole here and there.Talking of holes, what about when the fence gets blown down with the jets,it takes ages for them to repair, now that a bloody great hole. This will end up like the mound story i can see and the ladders, give us something to moan about.

Congrats on the promotion.
Personally, I find a 55mm diameter lens ideal as it is chickenwire-pokeable without causing damage.
I dunno where this current breed have crawled out from. It never seemed this bad 5-10 years ago when the Tonkas ruled the skies.
