Sadly, unless you have an invite (Family and Friends) then you will not get on base.

Any suggestions as to best place to view from outside the fence? Don't need to be on top of the place just somewhere close enough to get some of the action but not in a dangerous location or likely to get moved on. The wife is thinking of taking son along (as he is mad keen). I have to work

Click on the link from Teej, thats the best place to park, you have a Spar there too so if you get hungry food is available. Its a quite road and plenty of space to park.

Unfortunately no loo's, there is the gym just near the 'Vulcans' club....they may let you use them if you ask really nicely, failing that it'll have to be a pub in Welton..about 4 miles away.

Unfortunately we won't be flying any of our Hunters as cash was apparantly not available to provide us with the fuel. We will have the following on static display. Hunter Mk58 G-HHAC, Hunter T8B XF995, Buccaneer S2B G-HHAA and Sukhoi 22M4 98+14. Hopefully the weather will be kind for a change.

HHA Eng, Is there ever the opportunity for folks without access to the familiys day to get to see your aircraft? Particularly the current none flyers. Regards Phil

and also get good pix of the static stuff from the outside and any ideas when it all starts the action red arrows etc Windows, have a read through the rest of the thread and you will find the answer to all your questions except one.
As for getting good photos of the statics, then I suspect you may well be unlucky and find that difficult or impossible. It depends on where they are parked, but there is every possibility that they will be placed between hangers and you will not be able to see them at all. However I would take a run into the old married quarters and go all the way along until you get to the old NAAFI, which is now a Spar shop mentioned in one of the first few posts and it is possible you may see something there.
There is a map linked in the second post.
Hope this helps
Phil

The Tucano display for this year has been cancelled due to the crash during a practise display, so is this something we dont know about or was the list released before the crash happened. Also the Typhoon displays this year has been restricted to weekends only, so is this really going to happen or again is it because the list was released before the weekday Typhoon displays were cancelled. Anyone know if there are any additions or changes to the display. James

Mmmm does seem odd reference the Tucan and Typhoon display, I do have a copy of the program that is to be handed out on the day and the Tucano and Typhoon listing is still on there, one can only presume it will not be the official display. Suppose we will all find out on Monday.

The Typhoon has displayed at several Families' Days this year. I believe the weekend restriction is for public displays.
