Another interesting insight into the workings of the intelligence service with a few anecdotes as well IE John Scarlett now the Chief went to Moscow to meet with an undercover operative for security reasons one of the best ways to interrupt any body overhearing a conversation was to turn on all the water taps after a few minutes the Russian Agent was perspiring profusely, Scarlett thought it might have been for a sinister reason until he discovered that all the taps were now running scalding hot water which made the agent sweat. there were interesting insights into how Kim Philby evaded discovery for so long. Next week its about other aspects of the cold war.

In The Daily Telegraph today is an Obituary, of Sir Edward Peck who was a Diplomat with expertise in the art of intelligence and Defence and was Chairman of JIC the Joint Intelligence Committee, in the 1970s.
