On my way back from the Dayton show, I popped in to the Air Force Museum. Didn't have the time for a full visit but I did get to the research aircraft hangar which I missed last time I was there. A fantastic collection of rare airframes and worth a trip if you find yourself for some reason in the Dayton area.
Here are some of the treasures.

Nice shots there Mr Edge , there were some very fascinating aircraft in there , although I found that there wasn't quite enough time to take it all in. It would be nice if they can get them housed on the outside of the base to make it easier to see them and more spread out , it took me 3 visit's to finally make it on the tour , always full by the time I got there. Glad you enjoyed the show.

Thanks for sharing these images with us. Good to see many more aircraft being moved indoors. Last time I was there (some 20 yeras ago I have to admit), the XB-70 still sat outdoors which was quite a shame. Cheers Andy

I certainly enjoyed my visit there in 2008. Especially the Presidential Hanger. Sadly the restoration tour was on another day and I still didn't see everything. This place is definately a 2 day event, so much to photograph and "read". What I enjoyed was the nose art of the all the B-52's that have sadly been cut up. Restaurant is excellent. And the shop is even better, Also have an on-line shop for the bits you ummed and arrred about If you do go, top tip, buy the postcards of the aircraft they have including the ones you didn't get to see.
