i'm going to buy a new scanner, my budget is £180, any ideas ???
i only have 2 ideas which is a uniden ubc 3500xlt or a icom ic-r5
also i dont mind second hand although my budget for second hand is £120

any comments or suggestions welcome

I don't see why your budget is lower for a second-hand unit...theoretically you could get a far better second-hand radio with the higher figure.

Let's start making assumptions - you want a handheld, you want a minimum of civil airband and military 'airband', you don't want any other accesories (software, interface cables, decent aerials)

Yep, giving us a financial figure tells us next to nothing about what you actually want/need so it's not very easy to make informed suggestions
