Hello everyone i'm popping up to see the typhoons and F15's this thursday and was wondering if you could answer a couple of Q's
Will the waddington airshow affect flying thurs?
Where's the best places to view? although i've got it fairly well figured out would be nice for some advice Smile
I'll be travelling 170miles so what times the best to arrive?
what time do they fly til?

I'll do what I can:

There's a note already about flying on Friday, with a further reference/reminder to it by TEEJ. Can't see why Thursday's activity level should be affected by Waddington.

As far as the best places to view are (and for answers to your other questions) - do check out the Coningsby viewing guide. Depends what you're after from your vantage point really - take-off shots, close side-on views etc. All the info you need is on the site if you have a browse.

The easterly winds at Coningsby have prompted take offs and landings from the 08 (main spotter's car-park) end this week evidently, and the met office think it'll be the same for Thursday.

What time's the best to arrive? S'pose it depends on your choice of vantage point. I'm arriving early on Wednesday (before 8am). I'd plan for it to be busy if I were you and take it from there. Someone who's been in the main car park this week might give you an idea of what time it became full.

What time do they fly 'til? Feasible they could fly into the night. Those who've already been this week might tell you what time they commenced and ended flying on each day this week. You might generally expect 8am - 6pm, with a quieter period in the middle at lunchtime, but who knows. Lots of variables can affect this - exercise schedules, serviceability, weather etc

Hope that's some help. Just two-penneth based on my experience of visiting Coningsby.
Check out the viewing guide. Print it off! (is that allowed?) Cheers

Looks like it will be 07 again for Thursday. In the morning I suggest you try point K for take off shots. A 300mm will fill the frame as they climb out. Even if they go out mid-morning the sun will still be favourable for this position. Move back to the Mound or roadside for the recovery landing shots. The sun will still be favourable.

If they go out in the afternoon then try a position near point M for when they recover. They should come off 07 and turn right. The light will be off to your left and you should get some well lit taxi shots.

It was an awsome start to wednesday, 7 of the f15s taxied at 08.30, all on re heat take offs plus a performance take off Clap followed by numerous typhoons and a harrier, a couple of overshoots by some F15E's so get there early thursday!. Goes a bit quiet 11.30 onwards, and picks up again after lunch so have a nice day Cheers speaking to 11sqdn yesterday there is no night flying and they pack up about 6pm.

It was indeed a great day. I arrived at just after 7am and the car park didn't begin to filll until mid-morning. By noon it was pretty much capacity.
First mission off-base this morning was Razor flight - 10 aircraft pretty much all at once! Awesome.
Red hot today too, and I met Snafu, who seemed like a top bloke.
You'll love it tomorrow. Wish I was going again. Cheers
