Is this date correct as a few months ago The Yorkshire Post or Northern Echo not sure which one printed this.
The 90th anniversary of 1 FTS will be on July 29, when Linton pilots will fly 31 Tucanos in a formation across North Yorkshire.
Or is this a separate event.
This was tagged on to the bottom of the following article.

AN RAF pilot, who served in the Gulf War, will
showcase his airborne skills this summer - and could be invited to fly
at the region’s biggest air show.

Flight Lieutenant Mike
Rutland, 33, will fly at almost 50 air shows as part of as part of
celebrations to mark the 90th anniversary of the world's oldest
military flying academy.

He is a member of No 1 Flying
Training School (1 FTS) which formed in 1919, and which for the past 52
years has been based at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, near York.

A spokesman for the airbase said it was possible that Flt Lt Rutland
would be invited to fly his Tucano aircraft at this year’s Sunderland
International Air show, in July, although this has not yet been
confirmed.

Flt Lt Rutland, of York, is perfecting his
aerobatic sequence, which he will display at air shows this summer,
putting his aircraft through its paces with stomach-churning
manoeuvres.

He faced stiff competition for the role.

Some
of the RAF's top pilots are based at Linton where they serve as flying
instructors, teaching the next generation of jet pilots and navigators.

Flt Lt Rutland said: "I have enjoyed all my flying in the RAF
over the 11 years I have been serving, but the challenge of displaying
the Tucano aircraft to the public is an honour that not many people are
awarded.

"I feel very privileged to be chosen to display the
aircraft for 1 FTS in its 90th anniversary year and I hope to provide
the best display possible to demonstrate the quality of flying skills
that 1 FTS has been producing, through instruction, for nine decades."

As a Harrier GR7 pilot, Flt Lt Rutland flew operations in Iraq during
Operation Telic I, where he was the first to fire the RAF’s Maverick
Missile in a war zone.

He later converted to the Tornado GR4 and as a
member of Number II (Army Co-operation) Squadron took part in two
further operational detachments as part of Op Telic from Al Udeid.

It's the 9th July per Linton's official station web site. Pity about the Tucano display for this year - as you probably know Flt Lt Rutland crashed a Tucano during a practice a couple of moths ago ending this years Tucano display season. Thankfully he escaped with 'minor' injuries.

Tu22 - do you know if the big formation is taking place? Thx
