Was that not because the Honda factory was just a few miles up the road? Maybe different now that Honda have bottled it?

Maybe different now that Honda have bottled it? Honda plant at Swindon, or the team facility? The F1 team is still based in Brackley.
He was there in 2007 representing Bridgestone's road safety campaign IIRC.

nice find on the freq front.
Next years entry list has been confirmed, surprisingly Prodrive not on it, and the FOTA teams are included subject to lifting their conditional entry status by the 19th June.
Ferrari are included as a full entry, despite them saying they are not legally tied to a previous contract due to the FIA changing rules.
- Quote :
- The FIA statement in full:
2010 FIA Formula One World Championship Entry List
Following the completion of the applications process for teams to compete in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, the following teams have been confirmed.
TEAM / CONSTRUCTOR SCUDERIA FERRARI MARLBORO / FERRARI SCUDERIA TORO ROSSO / STR TBA RED BULL RACING / RBR RENAULT AT&T WILLIAMS / WILLIAMS TOYOTA FORCE INDIA F1 TEAM / FORCE INDIA MERCEDES CAMPOS GRAND PRIX / CAMPOS COSWORTH MANOR GRAND PRIX / MANOR COSWORTH TEAM US F1 / TEAM US F1 COSWORTH VODAFONE McLAREN MERCEDES* / McLAREN MERCEDES BMW SAUBER F1 TEAM* / BMW SAUBER RENAULT F1 TEAM* / RENAULT PANASONIC TOYOTA RACING* / TOYOTA BRAWN GP FORMULA ONE TEAM* / BRAWN TBA
*These five teams have submitted conditional entries. The FIA has invited them to lift those conditions following further discussions to be concluded not later than close of business on Friday 19 June.
The maximum number of cars permitted to enter the 2010 Championship has been increased to 26, two being entered by each competitor. Pending completion of the discussions referred to above, further due diligence is currently taking place on other potential entries. Source: Offical F1 website
The saga continues!

Breaking news at stupid o'clock on Sky news...
The 8 teams belonging to FOTA have just announced they will not sign up to F1 in 2010 and will announce their own series shortly!!!!
So Mclaren, Ferrari, Brawn, Toyota, Red Bull, Torro Rosso, BMW and Renault have called Bernie/Max and the FIA's bluff.
I think the fireworks have just begun!
Love it!

Webberfully deserves his first win in F1 today in Germany, although he was aided by Kovi and Massa holding up Vettel and the brawns after he got a drive through penalty for hitting Rubens!
Button must be very happy to escape with only losing 2 points from his lead after a bad start and his 3 stop strategy getting ruined by getting stuck behind Kovi for so long.
Great race though, lots of close racing, and Kimi manages to ruin Sutils chance of points - AGAIN!!!!

I see Bourdais has been kicked out of his Torro Rosso seat, and now he's going to sue them - not sure how he has the nerve when he's been driving like a Sunday driving Granny!
Only 15 weeks to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, cant wait - as long as the track and facilities are finished...which is not looking likely just now, and with Ramadan around the corner, its not going to help matters!

From Planet F1 German driving legend Schumacher still works for Ferrari as an advisor, but after Massa's shocking injury in Hungary he will now get back behind the wheel once again.
Schumacher has some time to prepare as the F1 season takes a summer break, but he should once again line up on the grid at the European Grand Prix in Valencia on August 23.
"Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro intends to put Michael Schumacher in Felipe Massa's car until the Brazilian driver will be able to race again," Ferrari confirmed in a statement.
"Michael Schumacher said he is ready and, over the next few days, will undertake a specific training programme at the end of which confirmation will be given of his participation in the championship with effect from the European Grand Prix on the 23rd of August."
Schumacher admits loyalty played a big part in his decision to return.
"The most important thing first: thanks God, all news concerning Felipe are positive. I wish him all the best again," Schumacher said.
"I was meeting this afternoon with Stefano Domenicali and Luca di Montezemolo and together we decided that I will prepare myself to take the place of Felipe.
"Though it is true that the chapter Formula 1 has been closed for me since long and completely, it is also true that for loyalty reasons to the team I cannot ignore that unfortunate situation. But as the competitor I am, I also very much look forward to facing this challenge." linky

Renault have had their one race ban overturned and can now race in the European Grnad Prix in Spain - it was bloody madness that they were banned in the first place, talking about shooting themselves in the foot not letting Mr Spaniard race in front of his home fans lol.
Romain Grosjean has been announced as the second driver for Renault for the rest of the season, be interesting to see if he can get more out of the car then Piquet ever did.

Abu Dhabi now confirmed as a dusk race, played out under floodlights.
Looking forward to it, 3 days of noise, not sure how how good its gonna be for taking pictures though!
Hoping Hamilton can take the big points away from RedBull this weekend, and the Brawns can hang in there for 4th or 5th.
Am I the only F1 loony in here?!
