After finding out about this airframe I popped in past on my way home from Edinburgh this Afternoon.

Not really sure why it is there, Errol is an old airfield between Perth and Dundee and is still used by some light aircraft and for skydiving. I think the Gannet is owned by the farmer.
I don't know of a Vampire being there?

It was there 2 weeks ago, in a shed/barn at the other end of the field where the Gannet is, the nose is sticking out but its not easy to see. We saw it but didnt bother trudging over the field to take a pic as it had been raining.

If you had carried on walking from where you took the second from last picture you would have found it, dont know what state its in though, the REAL serial is XD403 but its marked in another scheme

Thanks for that, I was going to pop in past again sometime as I'd like to spend a bit more time on detail shots of the Gannet (time constrained yesterday due to prescence of wife). Will go Vampire hunting next time also!

The Gannet is owned by Morris Leslie, the guy that owns Errol and Scone. It used to be the gate guard at Lossiemouth and has suffered greatly since then.
It looks like it has been moved since my last visit.

Looks salvageable, although I hate to think the state the cockpits are in. Get a tarpaulin over it.

The Gannet did travel to Leuchars a few years back for refurb, it arrived back looking a lot better than it did when it left. Sadly since its return its had deteriated with no attempt to protect it from the weather and this past winter must have been rough on it.
The best time to get a look at it is Sundays when the airfield hosts alarge bootsale. Didn't know about the Vampire, when did that arrive?
