RAF Leuchars Air Show 2009
12 Sep 09, RAF Leuchars
The Royal Air Force Leuchars Airshow takes place on Saturday 12th September. Keeping up tradition launched back in 1945 with the first ‘Battle At Home Day’, RAF Leuchars Airshow has grown and evolved into one of the largest Airshow in the UK and certainly the largest event of its kind in Scotland

From other sources I have heard that this may fly if there is a display pilot cleared at the time of Leuchars. Even at this early stage (and subject to cancellations); cannot wait for my first visit to what is fast becoming this years RAF premier event! Andy

Dougie strength and honour Dougie, don't know if you are aware already, but speaking to the Phantom crew at Waddington, they say that they have a Tac.Eval. in September and that is why they have had to pull the jet .They said they would much rather be at an airshow than undergo an evaluation! . HTH,Alan.

Any chance they may get the French to send over a Rafale or 2 for both Static and Flying, saw them all at Paris and was very impressed.

I have a sneaky feeling that Leuchars might steal the accolade as Best Show for this year. Yeovilton showed lots of promise but the weather ruined it of course. Waddington was just a complete disaster (as I've said way too many times!) but Leuchars has looked promising for some time. Shame about the F-4F but a static F-4F isn't particularly unusual in any case so it's no great loss. Guess the MiG-29 will be the star item if it flies.
Dunna about Rafales - I'm old enough to not really care whether one shows up or not - ugly and modern! I'd be delighted if a couple of Etendards managed to make it though but I doubt that they will. The lovely Atlantic will be great though. If they manage to put-up a few of the Tornado F3's I think they will definitely have done really well. I might even make the effort and go *gasp*!

Still nothing that really blows your skirt up I'm afraid. Can't rely on the Vulcan. I'll be there anyway, can't avoid it, but glad I'm not paying.

Bearing in mind that they have just been disbanded is it likely that there should be some 43 Sqn Tornados still sitting around come Airshow Day? It would only be right if they did and if they do please make one of them the Black Tailed one coded GF......
