Anyone else been to Sunderland Airshow today. I missed Saturdays show which, by all accounts was better, todays show in my opinion was the worst that they have ever had. Two F16s and a Typhoon. That was all in the big stuff. Reds were superb as always and the pilot of the Chinook threw his machine about the sky brilliantly. The BBMF did not appear. This was an Airshow for rotary fans whereas myself, I like the big guns and the Vintage warbirds. I've probably spoiled myself all those years on my mates farm at the north end of Leeming.

The BBMF chickened out. After seeing the forecast after the Windermere show on Saturday decided to go home to Coningsby, pretty bad form really. I think they were going to stay at Carlisle, now i know they are not too good on crosswinds but the runway at Carlisle was right into wind for Sunday and it cleared up not too bad in the afternoon.

Yes, by the time the BBMFs alloted time arrived the cloud was quite high with no rain. In fact the Belgian and Dutch F16 both performed high routines as did the Typhoon that closed the show.

I think he was showboating for his family who were in the crowd, coincidently sat next to me.
